So you want to become an authority in your space?
Well, everyone fucking does.
Becoming an authority is MUCH easier said than done.
And I see creators every day doing a shit job at this.
But listen…
I used to struggle as well.
About 3 months ago I hopped on a networking call with a smaller creator.
When I joined the google meet he greeted me with the words:
“Oh you actually showed up?”
I said: “Of course! Why wouldn’t I?”
“Well, because your content makes you look like a fucking fool. I thought you’d be too scared to talk to me.”
That’s when I knew…
I fucked up.
This was not what I wanted to be perceived as.
So after the call ended I whipped out a piece of paper and thought…
How the fuck could I be respected on X?
A.k.a. how could I become an authority?
What I came up with, I creatively dubbed the “3-week authority challenge.”
(Very original - I know)
A challenge I set for myself so I could finally be perceived as someone who knew what they were talking about.
I’ve never publicly shared this challenge before…
But this is what allowed me to totally shift my image on social media.
And the challenge was super simple.
Not easy… but simple.
Here’s what I did:
I posted a long-form post every day for 3 weeks!
Every fookin day.
You know, long-form posts are powerful (if done correctly).
They allow you to:
But just posting 1 long-form is no good.
You need to post HEAPS of them.
I’m talking every day for 3 weeks - at least.
Why?
Because it takes time to shift your audience’s perspective of you.
For example:
When I first labeled myself as the “Cut-the-Crap Creator” people thought I was tripping.
“Bruh you wanna-be” is a comment I received.
But by sticking to this phrase for months…
Posting about it almost daily…
I actually became the cut-the-crap creator.
And people started calling me that.
That’s why my “authority challenge” was set for 3 weeks.
Because it takes AT LEAST 3 weeks to shift anyone’s perspective of you.
Give this challenge a try.
And you’ll see…
Not only will you be perceived as an authority, you’ll also have an incredible skill you can bank on (writing).
